Troubleshooting
Windows shows a warning on installation
A SmartScreen "unknown publisher" message may appear. This is normal for a recent indie studio and does not mean the file is dangerous: More info → Run anyway.
My antivirus flags Zones
An antivirus can wrongly flag a recent native app (false positive):
- Ensure you downloaded Zones from the official website.
- Allow the app in your antivirus if needed.
- Flags disappear as the publisher gains reputation (it is also submitted to antivirus vendors).
An app won't open from a zone or the dock
- Check that the shortcut points to a program that is still installed.
- Try launching the app from the Start menu: if it fails there too, the problem is with the app, not Zones.
- Restart Zones, then try again.
A zone (or files) seems to have disappeared
A zone mirrors a real folder: your files are not lost. Use Settings → Support → Open Zones folder to find them in Explorer, and check the Windows Trash (Restore). Reminder: when closing a non-empty zone, Zones always asks what to do (Keep / Move to Desktop / Trash).
Activation fails
- Initial activation requires an Internet connection (once).
- Double-check the license key (no extra spaces).
- If all your seats are used, deactivate a device in Settings → License before activating a new one.
Contacting support
Settings → Support → Report a bug. For faster processing, include the version (Settings → About), a precise description, reproduction steps, and Copy my system info. Support covers installation, activation, core usage and bugs — not basic training (this documentation serves that purpose).
